AMO Designs Prada Resort 2018 Show Using Mirrors and Bright Pink

[wp_ad_camp_2]

Prada Resort 2018 was not only incredible in terms of fashion but also interior design, thanks to AMO.

Prada Resort  2018 was probably the most millennial of all time. Designed by AMO, the Italian brand’s catwalk show that was held in one of the world’s oldest shopping malls, was filled with mirrors, minimal seating and translucent pink columns.

Prada’s first resort show took place in the Osservatorio, a construction that spreads across the 5th and 6th floors in  Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and overlooks the building’s glass and steel roof.

For this project OMA opt out for a set design that explored the boundaries of “real and manufactured moments”, creating a neat and innovative layout for the catwalk. The designers placed steel-framed benches upholstered in black and pink fabric on a linear arrangement so that the audience could have a clear view of the Galleria’s cupola.

A series of mirrors and pastel translucent columns were placed to reflect the Osservatorio‘s rooftop views providing a sensational illusion within the interior design.

“Models walk along the windows, glowing in the afternoon sun, suspended between the sky and the ornate iron dome that acts as the silent backdrop for the show.” – AMO

Mirrored folding screens and pastel translucent panels were placed in the room and interspersed with panels printed with magnified images of the collection, as well as black and white photography of the cupola’s steel structure.

A continuous mirror was placed to create a distinction between reality and illusion by reflecting the entire catwalk. According to the studio “blending the spectacle into the set, creating an ephemeral ensemble.”

The 2018 Prada Resort Show was highlighted with shades of millennial pink  – a popular muted shade of the color that sits somewhere between beige and blush. And it definitely worked, in our opinion.
