These Were the Highlights of Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai 2017

[wp_ad_camp_2]

Last week (23th-25th November 2017), Shanghai hosted one of the last big interior design events of the year, the Salone del Mobile. This was the second edition of the prestigious event that brought, once again, the best of Italy’s interior design industry to China.

This year the fair had twice the number of exhibitors compared to last year’s edition. In total, 109 Italian exhibitors, from big names to smaller brands, were present in Shanghai to present to China a little bit of the powerful Italian style. We have to keep in mind that China is one of the countries that most imports from Italy and has the potential to import a lot more, so that’s why this event had such a powerful presence within the major Italian brands of interior design.

Within the brands that were present at the event we find some big players of Italian Design, like Angelo Cappellini, Asnaghi, Arquetipo, B&B Itália or Aran World. Those brands presented in Shanghai the best of this year’s collection, and although most of their pieces were already presented in other events across the world,  Salone del Mobile. Milano Shangai allowed all the exhibitors to showcase all of the pieces that better identified with the Chinese market.

So although the event wasn’t exactly full of new pieces, it managed, once again, to approach Italy and China, both in a creative and in a business way. This year also marked the approach of the event to Chinese students with the development of SaloneSatellite, a space for emerging talents that showcase some of the best works by Chinese students.

This event will return in 2018 to Shanghai in November, but first, there is going to be a showcase in April in Milan, where Chinese brands will also display some of their best pieces of furniture. If you are interested in this blend of Italian and Chinese culture, then you can’t miss that event!
