Every kid’s dream came true – treehouses that are actually possible to live in comfortably at Sweden’s TreeHotel
If you were addicted to adventures in your childhood, you might need to visit Sweden this year. Located in Harads, in a small village near the Lule river, about 100 kilometers from Luleå airport there is a Treehotel that offers a unique hotel experience with contemporary treehouses in the middle of the forest!
Created by Kent Lindvall and his beloved wife Britta in 2010, the hotel offers themed lodgings for tourists venturing north of the Arctic Circle in search of the Northern Lights. The concept of this architecture project is to deliver a high-standard accommodation in an harmonious place where none of the ordinary stress of our everyday lives exist.
The idea of this project was inspired by Jonas Selberg Augustsen’s film – The Tree Lover – a tale of three people that decided to build a treehouse together in the middle of the forest. The Lindvall’s Tree hotel includes designs by architects like Tham + Videgård Arkitekter and Rintala Eggertsson Architects.
In a total of 7 tree rooms, we managed to choose our 3 favorite designs, take a look.
The UFO by Inrednin Gsgruppen
This design by Inrednin Gsgruppen is definitely how every UFO should look like. The idea of creating something entirely new and different was behind this five-bedroom suite. The architect worked on this project while developing Bird’s Nest and it contains a retractable staircase that leads up through a hatch in the base of the structure, which is molded from a composite material.
The room is cast in durable composite material – all to create the lightest, yet strong and sustainable design possible. The interior design gives the room a modern and comfortable feel.
30m² is all you need for a comfortable escape to your childhood dreams.

The Mirrorcube is an exciting hide-out among the trees, camouflaged by mirrored walls that reflect their surroundings. The dimensions are 4x4x4 meters. The base consists of an aluminum frame around the tree trunk and the walls are covered with reflective glass.
The Mirrorcube treehouse offers excellent accommodation for two people with a double bed, bathroom, lounge and a rooftop terrace. Shower and sauna is located in two separate buildings close by. All the treerooms have free WiFi.
