At the September edition of Maison et Objet 2017  the so called Inspirations Space will feature an interesting and new concept – the Comfort Zone. François Bernards will take over the exhibition with a curated selection of objects by exhibiting brands as well as a Bookshop-Café that includes a wide variety of sources illustrating the theme. So make sure you schedule in your agenda.

The event’s Inspirations Book will also comprise various forward-looking perspective on this particular theme, while the Conference Space will enable visitors the opportunity to explore the notion of “Comfort” with a five day programme of debates and talks. So no doubt that is the main focus of the event.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of the Inspirations Book, Marie-Jo Malait, it will be a journey away from the discomfort zones and unstable, insecure world we live in.  At the exhibition visitors can expect funny-looking cushions, soft materials and references to bubbles, balloons, nests and clouds. Grey, pastels and faded pinks will also erase tension and stress away.

In September a new vision for home decor will take place, focusing on the refined aesthetic of interior design. Architects and designers are attempting to bring serenity into our daily professional lives, while innovative technology is being used to foster well-being. Maison et Objet Paris 2017 wants to be the place where contemporary comfort meets comforting design. And we couldn’t be more excited.

The exhibition will highlight seating as its major subject. According to Marie-Jo Malait “Armchairs are showing increasingly enveloping shapes; they hug the hips, provide lumbar support…Their design has been adjusted to soothe our pains.”

Nowadays, a comfortable chair should be a sort of anti-shock pod for our aching bodies, and the ideal design is basically a cushion propped up on four legs. A pillow on legs, the true dream chair to relieve physical tensions. And, let’s be honest, it’s also a fun way to humor the child inside each of us.

The theme Comfort Zone will not only be dedicated to interiors but also the public sphere such as train stations, waiting rooms, cinemas and offices. “The products presented at the fair make it possible to live and work both together as a team and entirely on your own. Wall-mounted capsules, movable partitions, wall coverings made from insulating fibres, ergonomic elements that shift our perception of comfort.”
