Ad Hoc – Mexico

Rising American Talents – Industrial designer Juan José Nemer and architect Mauricio Álvarez, after graduating from Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City) in 2014 established AdHoc.
As an object, furniture, and space workshop, the studio designs and creates environments and pieces that dialogue with Mexico’s artisan legacy by highlighting the use of natural materials and manual processes in each of their products. Their work aims to make a statement about how the combination of technology and traditional techniques in contemporary design can pay an enormous aesthetic and functional dividend. A discourse that can be seen, for example, in their Antelmo tables, which feature a wooden-carved leg reassembling a molinillo, a traditional Mexican whisk.
The studio has participated in several international design shows such as Wanted Design NYC 2015, in Milan’s Fuori Salone 2015 (as part of the Mexican Pavilion), and most recently in Design Week Mexico, among others events.

Javier Gomez – Panama

Rising American Talents – Javier Gomez is an artist and photographer from Panama, based in New York. Gomez studied photography at New York University and the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
He has become known for photographing urban architecture and organic objects in a surreal and abstract way. Influenced by the principles of sacred geometry, Gomez accentuates color, volume and texture to blur the lines of nature and the abstract with familiar scenes.
He has since created his own aesthetic by observing organic objects as well as the architectural details of the world’s greatest buildings, translating these observations into bold, color-centric abstract works. Most recently some of thoseworks have been transposed into a new bed linen collection, JG home launched the fall of 2015.
Gomez’s list of high-profile clientele include Fendi Casa and BVLGARI, Cassina and Jamie Drake Interiors among others. His collectors include personalities such as Hilary Swank, Bill Clinton, Pelé, Colin Cowie, Dr. Phil, as well as private art collectors. Gomez is currently developing a rug collection and furniture line to be launched in Spring 2016.

Great things to People – Chile

Rising American Talents – An architecture, art and design studio, great things to People (or gt2P) was formed in 2009 in Santiago, Chile by partners Tamara Pérez, Sebastián Rozas, Guillermo Parada, Victor Imperiale and Eduardo Arancibia. The studio continuously researches and experiments with mixing digital fabrication and traditional, lo-tech knowledge; a concept they call Paracrafting.
This approach brings together the know-how of Chilean artisans with digital technologies in design and manufacturing. The resulting practice produces DNA to generate families of products in both personalized and series ways; everything from geometric bronze vessels to ribbed, undulating walls, modular furniture systems, and lighting in Porcelain cloth casted mixed with Lava.
Through their approaches, the studio seeks to promote new encounters between the technologies for projecting and the richness of the local expressed in traditional materials and techniques.
gt2P work is represented by the New Yorker gallery Friedman Benda since 2015. In 2016, gt2P will be launching the Tarrugao collection for Capellini during New York Design Week 2016. Previous shows/exhibitions gt2P have participated at include: MAD NY, Design Miami with Friedman Benda 2015, Cappellini Milan 2014, PAD London and Paris with Galerie Gosserez 2014, Rossana Orlandi Milan 2013 and more.

Ben Medansky – USA West Coast

Rising American Talents Ben Me- dansky is a ceramicist. Originally inspired by the blue skies and soaring mineral formations of his home state of Arizona, he went on to study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2010, Ben worked under a number of prominent artists including Peter Shire, Anthony Pierson, Shio Kusaka and the Haas Brothers. In the Summer of 2012, Ben, only 24 years old, created Ben Medansky Ceramics in his Los Angeles studio.
Influenced by his landscapes from Arizona to LA, his work explores variations on radial symmetry and grids while utilizing a limited color palette; an experiment in mimicking strong forms out of a fragile material. The output is a meditation on minimalism and mechanics, re-mastered in earthen and eternal material.
Medansky’s pieces are collected worldwide and include Sculptural Objects, limited run daily wares and Instruments of Peace. All work is designed and crafted by hand – wheel thrown or hand built, never slip casted or mass produced from a mold – from his workshop in downtown Los Angeles.
