Maison et Objet Paris nominated six Rising Talents from the UK!

Maison et Objet Paris is an inspired talent detector,  it picks out emerging talents and celebrates the values of style. Through its lecture series on major themes explored by international experts, MAISON&OBJET provides a source of exclusive and forward-looking information to help understand and foresee market trends.

Maison et Objet Paris decodes emerging signs of creativity and identifies compelling innovative ideas and talents. For that reason Rising Talent Awards selected six incredible designers from the United Kingdom to exhibit the work that made them earn a place at the Hall 7. What’s truly interesting about this concept is that these rising designers are selected by six renowned designers in the industry.

The legendary designer, Tom Dixon selected  Zuza Mengham, a London based artist and designer that explores the recovery of traditional crafts. From giant steel and neon chandeliers housing hanging plants to small geometric glassy sculptures, her work is seated within an atheistic of modernist abstraction.

Jay Osgerby was impressed by the works of Sebastian Cox studio, an extremely talented team whose expertise is wood working. Founded on the principle that a traditional approach can be radical and the past can be used to design the future, these designers undertake creative collaborations using wood to express the brand’s values through designed objects, installations and interiors.

The prestigious Ilse Crawford nominated Marcin Rusaka British design studio specialized in storytelling, process and material investigation the work often incorporates research, object and installation as well as visual creations to explore overlooked details of our lives which recreated and re-imagined are shown again in a different light.

Maison et Objet Paris Rising Talent Awards is all about British Design

The renewed designer Ross Lovegrove, fascinated by Giles Miller Studio‘s innovative surface, materials and sculptural works, nominated this rising talent from London to attend the awards.  Giles Miller Studio focuses on light, reflection, texture and the manipulation of these elements to create conceptually subtle yet beautifully functional artworks.

Nigel Coates selected Studio SWINE, a collaboration between Japanese Architect Azusa Murakami and British Artist Alexander Groves. Creating works that span across disciplines of art, design and film, SWINE explores themes of regional identity and the future of resources in the context of globalization. SWINE‘s work manifests a deep research into materials and modern industrialization.

Last but not least, Sir Paul Smith nominated John Booth,  a fashion illustrator and textile designer based in London. Booth’s practice encompasses collage technique, experimentation with line, embroidery and textile manipulation! With such nominees, the Rising Talents Awards will be definitely something unique for design lovers. Besides it will provide a clear look of the British design scene that is, by far, one of the biggest in the world.
