This year’s edition presents a new talks programme with debates and discussions around the theme “Where Design Meets’. The seminar sessions will take place on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd of September. The seminars’ topics include architecture, colours, home, workspace, technology, but also another diverse areas of interests.
Here are some of the talks you can attend at DesignJunction 2017:
Arthur Mamou-Mani architect, educator and digital designer and expert in fabrication technology will held a talk about how to run an innovative architectural practice. He founded ‘Mamou-Mani’ which provides architectural, industrial design and visual merchandising services. The company provides also workshops and software classes, as it is open to architects, students and any person that has an interest in architecture!

Find out the secrets of turning a house into a bespoke home from Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead of 2LG Studio, designer Daniel Schofield and Jemma Ooi from Custhom. 2LG work with residential, commercial and product design whereas Usthom is a research-based design practice that works with handmade techniques. This combination of different approaches and skills is surely going to make an amazing panel! (Thursday 21st, 12:00-12:50 pm)

Tina Norden, director at Conran and Partners, chairs a talk that has as aim to explore the diversity of materials. Seetal Salonki, founder of Ma-tt-er, research studio, platform and consultancy that works with materials, will share aspects of his work regarding industry and education. Laetitia de Allegri-designer and consultant will share also her experience and views about the functionality and longevity of materials and techniques. (Thursday 21st, 14:00-14:50)
One of the most important development in London is definitely King’s Cross, managed by Argent. Different companies that have made an impact within the area will talk about the project’s progression. Some notable names that will be present are Robert Evans, that has led the King’s Cross development since 2001, Eric Parry that founded Eric Parry Architects, and others that will provide their perspective towards the project. Probably one of the talks that you shouldn’t miss is ‘Where Design Meets Education‘. The seminar is about education and how to mix both creativity and science in order to offer a fulfilling and equal learning experience.
The panel will discussabout their roles, Government focus and the concept of ‘STEAM’ (Science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) subjects versus STEM. (Friday 22nd, 13:00-13:50)
Where Design Meets Colour’ is going to close this edition seminars programme. The talk is going to be about the role of colour in design, branding and food design.
Kim Boutin and David Broner, co-founders of DVTK – the London-based creative studio creating immersive and playful digital experiences that push the boundaries of modern storytelling will sit alongside Francesca Sarti. (Friday 22nd, 17:00-19:00)
