This week marks the start of the popular and prestigious NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s annual celebration of design! This event usually attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees and designers from across the globe and this year won’t be any different. So join My Design Agenda and find out more about this illustrious event!
This year the event will take place between May 11–23 and it will celebrate a world of design and will showcase over a dozen design disciplines through exhibitions, installations, trade shows, panels, product launches, open studios, and more.
Like design itself, NYCxDESIGN is everywhere, with events taking place across the city’s five boroughs. Brought to life by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) in conjunction with a steering committee of leading members of New York City’s design community, NYCxDESIGN highlights the unique creative, cultural, educational, and economic opportunities in New York City.
The truth is that NYCxDESIGN creates a collaborative platform for cultural and commercial opportunities, elevates established and emerging design practices and increases awareness of and appreciation for design by all audiences.
But is it free? NYCxDESIGN welcomes all residents and visitors (domestic and international) to experience New York City’s vibrant design scene. Most NYCxDESIGN events are free to enter. Ticketed events are managed by host/organizing venues. Before heading out, check listing and contact details for each event you’re interested in attending and you can do that on the Oficial Page of the Events!
This year, NYCxDESIGN will host more than 150 events in several areas. We obviously highlight the ones that are taking place in Lower Manhattan, the design center of the United States of America where you can find, for instance, the hip neighborhood of Tribeca. But amongst the top events, we have to stand out the popular ICFF Event that will take place at the Jarvis Center! So don’t miss the festivities of this New York Design Week.
