ABOUT ARCTIC DESIGN WEEK

Arctic Design Week, founded in 2009, is the world’s northernmost design festival. The City of Rovaniemi, renowned for its winter wonderland landscapes, invites you to come and experience the 7-day city-wide festival held annually in March. Arctic Design Week brings together professionals in the fields of business and design in its mission to highlight design from the Arctic regions and to display the vital role design plays in our lives.

The Arctic Design Week is organized by the City of Rovaniemi, Rovaniemi Regional Development Agency, The University of Lapland Faculty of Art and Design, and various business partners.
Truth is, the climate in the Arctics is both a resource and a challenge. Especially from the perspective of design, architecture, travel and tourism. But the point of ADW is exactly that of turning tables. With its temperature, white, minimally clean landscape, endless nights and endless days, Rovaniemi is the perfect launching platform! THE EDITION: ARCTIC DESIGN WEEK 2019

Arctic Design Week 2019 will focus on the theme “Design for Happiness”. The week will be full of design talks, workshops, design exhibitions, pop-up design shops, delicious food opportunities, events for kids and a number of other events. Our highlight of the week is the Arctic Design Conference.

We are inviting the Design and Business community to submit talks, round table discussions, demonstrations, workshops for the upcoming Arctic Design Week 2019 (18.-23.3.2019, Rovaniemi).

ARCTIC DESIGN AWARD NIGHT

Arctic Design Award Night has been organised at Arctic Design Week in Rovaniemi since 2016. The main award of the evening is “Arctic Design Company of the Year”. The Award Night is designed with 2 goals in mind:

1. To help professionals expand their networks and find new opportunities with their peers.
AND
2. To present an award to the Arctic Design Company of the year.

This year we are expanding our award category to include also the Arctic Design Student of the year. We want to honour the companies and the students who are using Arctic Design and leading the way in their industry.
