Every year, Imm Cologne invites an international designer to use architecture, interior design and furniture in a simulated house in order to make a personal statement about contemporary living. In 2018, young Czech designer Luci Koldova will be responsible to design the special stand “Das Haus”, a 180-square-meter installation that will be one of the main features of the event.
In 2018, the “Das Haus” will focus on the subject of light and will emphasize its importance as a creative design element. So for that reason, the people responsible for Imm Cologne chose Koldova, a highly talented designer of lighting products that is the perfect person for this subject.
She graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in 2009 and rapidly conquered a name for herself, namely within the lighting designs. In her designs, Lucie Koldova demonstrates how the tradition of bohemian glass can be interpreted in a modern style and at the highest standard. That’s what she did in 2010 when she achieved her international breakthrough with her glass lamp collection Muffins, that were produced in collaboration with pristine design company Brokis.
These lamps, with their simple, elegant and sensual form fully represent Koldova’s personal style and are a brilliant example of her talent as a lighting designer. All of her work since then has followed that same quality and that’s why she was invited by Imm Cologne 2018 to apply at the “Das Haus” stand the full potential of artificial or artistically arranged lighting as a form of design.
So what can we expect form Koldova at her “Das Haus”? Well according to the very own Koldova, her “Das Haus” will be shaped by lighting cells in which light, appearing in various forms and controlled in different ways, will not only mark out space but also support its function and a specific sentiment. So we can see that light will play the main role at this special event, and the furniture will complete the room instead of dominating it.
So, has expected, Koldova’s design for “Das Haus” will have light as the main protagonist and it’s with light that she plans to tell her story. By creating different light layouts and specific light feelings of each lighting cells, Koldova plans to reach interesting visual contradictions and transmit different emotions. As a result, every room in Koldova’s “Das Haus” aims to represent a certain feeling and perform a practical role in everyday life in order to satisfy individual needs. So make sure to visit Koldova’s “Das Haus” special space at Imm Cologne 2018.
