Art Basel Miami [01-03 December]
Art Basel Miami Beach, said to be North America’s most comprehensive international contemporary art fair, celebrates its 20th anniversary December 1 – 3, 2022 (the invitation-only preview is November 29 – 30, 2022) with its largest show to date. Thousands of art dealers, artists, collectors and art aficionados will enjoy modern and contemporary art from 283 galleries from 38 countries. Art Basel Miami Beach is one of only four Art Basel fairs in the world; the others are in Hong Kong, Paris and the founding fair in Basel, Switzerland.
The center of the action will be the gleaming Miami Beach Convention Center. The huge Convention Center is divided into sections, each with its own curatorial focus:
- Galleries: This is the main area or section, where 213 top galleries will show major works in all mediums.
- Positions: This is where you’ll find 19 solo exhibitions by emerging international artists including Tonia Nneji, Leslie Martinez and Ishi Glinsky.
- Nova: This year, Nova will showcase 22 presentations from 23 galleries. Artists include Los Angeles-based artists Anabel Juárez and Greg Ito in a dual installation; John Edmonds; Pinaree Sanpitak; Nikita Kadan; Julia Wachtel; Edgar Heap of Birds and emerging artists Erin Ggaadimitis Ivalu Gingrich and Robyn Tsinnajinnie.
- Survey: In this sector, 17 galleries will present work created before the year 2000. Artists include Milford Graves, Dread Scott, Cuban artist Agustín Cárdenas, Japanese artist Ei-Q and Spanish artist Aurèlia Muñoz.
- Edition: In this sector, 11 exhibitors will show prints and editioned works. Exhibitors include Cristea Roberts Gallery (London); Crown Point Press (San Francisco); Gemini G.E.L. (Los Angeles); Carolina Nitsch (New York); Pace Prints (New York); Paragon (London); Polígrafa Obra Gràfica (Barcelona); Susan Sheehan Gallery (New York); STPI (Singapore); Two Palms (New York); and ULAE (New York).
- Information about the Meridians (large-scale projects) and Kabinett (curated selections by each gallery) sectors as well as 20th-anniversary highlights will be released closer to the event dates.
Furniture China [23 November – 22 December]
Furniture China is a professional international furniture exhibition with an excellent reputation. As one of the largest furniture exhibitions in the world it combines a comprehensive set of popular themes: home furniture, office furniture, furnishings, lightings, kitchens, furniture manufacturing and equipment. Furniture China attracts tens of thousands professional buyers from all over the world every year and creates unlimited business opportunities and profits for both suppliers and buyers.
In 2022, Furniture China will launch the first live show, FURNITURE CHINA LIVE, to meet all aspects of trade needs of both buyers and suppliers.
The first FURNITURE CHINA LIVE will be held from November 23 to December 16, 2022, which is aimed to promote the business and trade connection of the global furniture industry.
Design Miami [30 November – 03 December]
Design Miami/ announces a return to Miami Beach, Florida for the 18th edition of the fair held November 30 – December 4, 2022, with Preview Day on November 29, 2022. The fair will take place on Convention Center Drive and 19th Street, alongside Art Basel at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Each year Design Miami/ enlists a jury of experts to review the onsite exhibitions and present the Best of Show awards. This year’s jury for Design Miami/ included architect Lee Mindel, art advisor Simon Andrews, design collector Al Eiber, Design Miami/ Vice President of Fairs Grela Orihuela, and Design Miami/ Curatorial Director Wava Carpenter.
Heim+Handwerk [30 November – 04 December]
Regional handcrafts, creative living ideas, smart energy saving solutions, inspiration and independent advice – Heim+Handwerk at the Munich Exhibition Center offers from 30.11. until 04.12.2022 everything for your own four walls. Here the trade fair visitors will find a wide range of individual furniture and furnishing solutions from craft companies and experts from the region, well-known furniture brands and small manufacturers.
Heim+Handwerk offers the opportunity to exchange ideas with carpenters, interior decorators and artisans and scores with personal advice, made-to-measure products and trendy upcycling. In addition, the trade fair visitors can look forward to fair fashion at GREENSTYLE@Heim+Handwerk this year.
Seoul Design Festival [20 – 23 December]
Seoul Design Festival is a design-specialized exhibition based on contents accumulated by DESIGN magazine since 1976 and networks of domestic and foreign design industry. The first Seoul Design Festival was held in 2002. Seoul Design Festival is designed to enhance design competitiveness of domestic and foreign brands by showing design trends along with corporate brands with the motto “Designer Promotion.” Also, it has been grown into a place of exchange to support domestic designers’ expansion to the world and introduce world designers to the domestic market.
Through Seoul design festival, a total of 2,374 brands have successfully promoted their own brands and over 5,238 designers were discovered and introduced. Seoul Design Festival has grown into a festival as a stepping stone for Korean designers toward the world and a gate for world’s designers toward the Korean market.
