ABOUT THE 2019 EDITION

Organised by the DesignSingapore Council, SDW 2019 will showcase programmes forged from its successful partnerships with FORTUNE and Wallpaper* for Brainstorm Design, and with the Singapore Furniture Industries Council for SingaPlural, an annual design platform, to explore deeper and more complex connections between design, its impact and evolution.

Among other things, the Singarpore Design Week will be hosting Handmade. Handmade is an exhibition that will showcase pieces by eight Singapore creatives. Together with the National Heritage Board, Dsg will enliven the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct with public artworks created by artists and designers through an open call.

PROJECT 210

Project 210 is a collaboration between Naumi Hotel Singapore and interior design students from local tertiary institutions, and in partnership with Goodrich Global and SPACE Furniture. The students will design a hotel room that appeals to the next generation of travellers. Named Project 210, after the room number, up and coming young local talents will get a chance to get creative and turn their designs to the next ‘Instagram-able’ space in Singapore, following the design ethos of designer-inspired rooms at the hotel.

The first team to be awarded the coveted opportunity comprises of Nurul Hanis, Nia Astira, Nuri Khairiyyah and Tracy Lim, final-year Retail and Hospitality Design students from Temasek Polytechnic. Their opening concept for Project 210 will launch during Singapore Design Week 2019 and is inspired by Tyler the Creator, a creative personality in music, TV and fashion. The concept uses colour-blocks in bold hues and contrasting graphic prints, making the room vibrant, and above all, playful – a perfect opportunity to capture that picturesque square on social media.
