Artissima 2022 is coming ! The twenty-ninth edition of Artissima International of Contemporary Art arrives at the Turin Oval , the only fair in Italy exclusively dedicated to contemporary art, internationally recognized for the attention dedicated to experimental practices and for being a valid springboard for emerging artists and research galleries.
Artissima 2022
Artissima 2022, which is being run for the first time by Luigi Fassi, has proven that it can draw some of the most intriguing galleries, artists, collectors, and curators from around the world by inviting 4 unified categories to the fair:
- Main Section (which gathers a selection of the most representative of the world art scene).
- New Entries (dedicated to emerging galleries on the international scene).
- Monologue / Dialogue (reserved for emerging galleries and / or with an experimental approach who intend to present a monographic stand or a dialogue between the works of 2 artists).
- Art Spaces & Editions(which hosts galleries specialized in editions and multiples of artists, libraries, project spaces and non-profit spaces).
Artissima 2022 will bring also, 3 curated sections, (Drawings, Present Future and Back to the Future) with the participation of 174 galleries , from 28 countries and 4 continents, including 35 monographic projects . This year, the three curated sections have been renewed in the curatorial teams, returning to presence with monographic stands, and living on the Artissima Voice Over digital platform with dedicated insights.
This year’s theme is Transformative Experience , a concept developed by the American philosopher LA Paul in the essay of the same name published in 2014, where he argues that a transformative experience can radically change the person who lives it, undermining the expectations prefigured at a rational and opening up unknown perspectives.
The Turin fair’s inventive strength is being expanded by active partnership with several public institutions, museums, foundations, and galleries, which in turn sparks cultural projects in the Piedmont region. The fair expands into the city with three projects curated by invitation, taken to 4 museums, thanks to the collaboration with the Torino Musei Foundation, with the Main Partner Intesa Sanpaolo, and the UNA Group.
Artissima special projects:
- Artissima Junior , born from the collaboration between Artissima and Juventus, involves young people (between 6 and 11 years old) in the creation of a collective work created with the help of an artist tutor;
- Torino Social Impact Art Award , stand where the video works of the winners of the third edition of this award are presented;
- A SOUTH , a project created to enhance the activity of foundations and artistic institutions from the southern and island areas of Italy.
Through the artissima.art and Artissima Voice Over platforms, Artissima is also Digital, pursuing strategic initiatives in the digital sphere that aim to integrate technology innovation in production and cultural use. Lauretana is promoting the AudioGuides, which will accompany the public on an autonomous and private visit to the fair, in the audio / podcast industry.
Artissima srl is in charge of running the Artissima organization. The Metropolitan City of Turin, the Piedmont Region, and the City of Turin all own the Artissima brand. The Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, the CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art, the Turin Chamber of Commerce, and the CRT Foundation are helping to organize the twenty-ninth edition of Artissima, which is being supported for the first time by the Ministry of Culture.
