Design Shops to Visit During Milan Design Week – Spring is here and with so many places to go in Milan, My Design Agenda suggest must-visit design shops that design lovers and fashion travelers need to see! Things to do in Milan when Milan Design Week 2016 comes to town? Let’s see:
BOTTEGA VENETA, Via Sant’Andrea, 15
Nestled within the historic Palazzo Gallarati Scotti is Bottega Veneta’s first-ever home accessory boutique, conceived by the company’s creative director, Tomas Maier. Outfitted with custom-made furnishings throughout, the space mirrors the beautiful craftsmanship the brand is known for. Furniture, lighting, and tabletop are the focus, alongside collaborations with Poltrona Frau.
NILUFAR, Viale Vincenzo Lancetti, 34
Founded in 1979, Nilufar has long been recognized as a leader in the design world. Its Milan store, Nilufar Depot, offers a carefully curated collection of pieces by the likes of Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, and Hans Agnes Jakobsson. Designed by Massimiliano Locatelli, the three-story warehouselike space provides ample room to display the store’s home goods.
FORNASETTI, Corso Giacomo Matteotti, 1/A
As a home decor furniture brand, Fornasetti perfectly embodies Italian design style. So it’s no surprise that the interiors of Fornasetti’s only store do, too. Monochromatic walls and gold accents are its invitation card!
ROSSANA ORLANDI, Via Matteo Bandello, 14/16
What started as a gallery has now expanded into a social venue for cultural events and installations, and tastemaker Rossana Orlandi is at the center of it all. Spazio Rossana Orlandi is filled with captivating works of art and statement-making furniture. Feel free to take a whole afternoon to browse the wonderful wares.

TASCHEN bookstore, Via Meravigli, 17
To the delight of Milanese bookworms, Taschen has added the city to its exclusive list of outposts. The store, in the Corso Magenta district, opened its doors in April 2015. An airy, well-lit space displays Taschen’s expansive collection of gorgeous cocktail table books, not to mention its fanciful decor. A must go in this Milan Furniture Fair 2016!
BBDW, Via Santa Marta, 21
The American furniture company BDDW, best known for high-quality solid-wood furniture, opened its second store—its first outside New York—on via Santa Marta two years ago. Founder Tyler Hays uses clean finishes and natural oils to breathe fresh air into the brand’s handcrafted pieces.
CARLO MORETTI, Via della Spiga, 48
Carlo Moretti opened its flagship store during the 53rd International Milan Furniture Fair in April 2014. Serving as a workshop and showroom, the space displays the Carlo Moretti collection in its entirety, as well as historic art pieces culled from museums around the world.
BASSAM FELLOW gallery, Via Varese, 14
BassamFellows Lifestyle Gallery opened in early 2014 among the boutiques and design ateliers of the distinctive Brera neighborhood. The gallery, of course, offers the largest selection of BassamFellows pieces of any shop in the world.
RICHARD GINORI, Piazza San Marco, 3
Richard Ginori, maker of exquisite porcelain tableware, has opened its second flagship in Italy, this time in the heart of Milan. The store’s dark-wood interiors, a perfect blend of cozy and modern, feature checkered floors, farm tables, 18th-century flora and fauna prints, and hand-painted pieces by Alessandro Michele.
