The Helsinki Design Week is coming back this year and it will take place in September in Finland’s city capital. Don’t miss the chance of visiting Helsinki and one of the major Design Trade Fairs in the world. Let us show you why you can’t miss it!
Founded in 2005, the Helsinki Design Week is the largest design festival in Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark). Held annually in September, this multidisciplinary festival presents design from a number of fields as well as fashion, architecture and urban culture. The next Helsinki Design Week will be held between the 6th and the 16th of September in several locations around the city
Helsinki Design Week presents the new faces and phenomena of design, promotes design internationally in collaboration with various partners and offers city citizens through design a forum to participate in developing and discussing the city and its culture. The festival programme contains around 250 events every year, and includes both events targeted for professionals and the general public.
In 2017, this Design Week boasted about 161,000 visitors. It’s expected that the 2018 Edition will reach the 200,000 visitors mark! The Helsinki Design Week is produced by the design service agency Luovi Productions Oy that was founded in 1995 by Kari Korkman, and it began with producing products such as bags and laptop cases. Helsinki Design Week has its origins in 2001 when Luovi was launching a new collection of bags in an exhibition called DesignPartners01.
From the 1st Edition in 2001 till now many things have changed and this festival is bigger than ever. A great party filled with design and elegance is in the making that will include events like The Children’s Weekend or the incredible PechaKucha Nights! So don’t miss this event!
