The 4th edition of Instanbul Design Biennial, which opens doors from 22 September to 4 November will be curated by the Belgium artist Jan Boelen!
The artistic director of Z33 House for Contemporary Art, teacher and design critic Jan Boelen, was selected to be the curator of the 4th edition of Instanbul Design Biennial.
Every two years, the capital of Istanbul becomes a main attraction point for professionals around the world, inviting thousands of designers and architects to Istanbul Design Biennial, a tradeshow for innovative designs.
Taking place from 22 September to 4 November this year, the event will be hosted by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), and curated by the Belgium artist Jan Boelen.
His appointment was made by an advisory board that includes Design Museum chief curator Justin McGuirk, Dresden Museum of Decorative Arts director and e-flux editor Nikolaus Hirsch. Previous curators include Joseph Grima, Zoë Ryan, and Beatriz Colomina and Mark Wigley.
Since the opening of Z33 House for Contemporary Art, Jan Boelen has been fashioning projects and exhibitions that encourage the visitor to look at everyday objects in a novel manner. Z33 is a unique laboratory for experiment and innovation and a meeting place with cutting-edge exhibitions of contemporary art and design.
