Sponsored by Boutique Design magazine, the 2016 competition had a total of 21 categories, giving designers around the world the opportunity to showcase their influential and innovative design work in every sector of the hospitality industry.
One of three finalists of ‘Best Hotel Luxury’ is the project ‘Edition New York’. Located in the landmark Metropolitan Life Tower, it was built in 1909 in a magnificent Gothic-style. As the team says, they have ‘designed a concept for public areas and guest rooms that complements the Clock Tower’s historic interior’, with a selection of natural materials as well as richly textures ‘to enhance the juxtaposition of modern and the traditional in the building’.
Very exquisite material and textures, and environment was the transformation from urban to dark layer and fluffy whiteness elevation, said the Jury for Core77 Design Awards 2016.
