Olafur Eliasson’s Exhibition at Versailles | 6th June to 30th October

One of the wonders of Paris, Versailles Palace is a monument that expresses the opulence of other times and tells the history of the decadence of french royalty. Olafur Eliasson is the contemporary artist invited to Versailles in Summer 2016. Born in 1967 in Denmark to Icelandic parents, his work investigates perception, movement, embodied experience, and feelings of self.

He is best known for striking installations such as the hugely popular The weather project (2003) in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern, London, which was seen by more than two million people, and The New York City Waterfalls (2008), four large-scale artificial waterfalls which were installed on the shorelines of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

In January 2016, Eliasson received the prestigious World Economic Forum Crystal Award, a tribute to his work with Little Sun, a solar-powered lamp whose goal is to provide clean, affordable light to communities without access to electricity.

Galerie Room

In Paris, in a neighbourhood undergoing gentrification, an intimate contemporary design gallery has just opened: Galerie Room. Galerie Room has an air of sophistication and the same pretty young vibe of its owners: designer Violaine d’Harcourt and communication manager Ludivine Chabert. We are in the 18th arrondissement, amid alleyways and staircases, just before the North side of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, the famous white church on top of the Montmartre hill. This area is at risk of soon becoming the next place to go.

The Conran Shop

If you are a fan of design and furniture, this store is a must stop for you. The Conran Shop in Paris is located in the former warehouse building of the Bon Marché, and has 3 levels of furniture, home decorations, gardening, textile and lighting. If you are in the area, combine it with a fun walk or window shopping in this neighborhood.
